Vignette 1 | Synopsis
The federal Health Center Program provides grant support to non-profit organizations that meet unique requirements identified in legislation creating the Program. A significant requirement is that an organization receiving a Health Center Program grant must have a governing board with a majority of its members getting their health care at the health center and who represent the people served by the center. One responsibility of patient-majority boards is to assure that barriers to care at the health center, such as language and culture, are reduced or eliminated.
